Xi'an Jiaotong University President Wang Shuguo visited EDRI

Wang Shuguo, the President of Xi'an Jiaotong University, came to Chengdu to attend the 120th Anniversary Celebration of Southwest Jiaotong University. Before the celebration, he arrived at EDRI on the afternoon, May 14th, 2016. Warmly welcomed by President Zhao, President Wang visited the nearly complete EDRI mansion and thought highly of its construction. Later, President Wang attended Xi'an Jiaotong University Sichuan Alumni Forum on the 3rd floor.
Over 40 alumni attended the meeting, including Dongfang Electric Corperation CEO Wen Shugang, Deputy General Manager Zhang Zhiying, former Deputy Secretary Wen Bingyou, Western Power Chairman of BoardLi Renchao,BOCOM Sichuan Branch Manager Wang Yifeng, Nuclear Power Institute of China President Luo Qi, State Grid Sichuan Electric Power Chief Engineer Shi Junjie, and academician Ye Shangfu.
Firstly, President Zhao warmly welcomed President Wang Shuguo and other alumni of Xi'an Jiaotong University. President Zhao introduced the current situation of EDRI, presenting its potential development momentum, industrial advantages and layout of the industrial chain. As the chairman of Sichuan Alumni Association, President Zhao expressed his willingness to accomplish the mission that to build Alumni Association a platform for communication and development between alma master and alumni, and within alumni. Also, President Zhao wished to establish long-term relationships for cooperation with other alumni.
President Wang Shuguo delivered an important speech, elaborating the new development strategy of Xi'an Jiaotong University. Initiated by Xi'an Jiaotong University, Western China Science and Technology Strategy Park and New Silk Road Colleges Alliance Proposal was highly concerned by CPC Central Committee, State Council, Central Ministries and Shaanxi Government. President Wang explained the structure and operating mechanism of Western China Science and Technology Strategy Park, discussed its influences on Xi'an Jiaotong University and “the Belt and Road”, and elaborated the current situation and future goal of Xi'an Jiaotong University discipline construction. The present alumni warmly applauded for the speech, believing that following the strategy of President Wang, Xi'an Jiaotong University would step into a new era of leapfrog development.

Delegates who made speeches included YeShangfu, Wen Shugang, Li Renchao, Wang Yifeng, Luo Qi, Zhang Zhiying, Shi Junjie, Li Hong, Wen Bingyou, Huang Dai, and ZhongGuangyong.
After the forum, President Wang Shuguo presented Xi’an Alumni with a memorial scroll of Jiaotong University 120 anniversary, and Mr. Zhao received it. Later, President Wang and all present alumni posed for photograph in the front of EDRI building.

Mr. Zhao said: “numbers of members of Alumni Association are EDRI’s sincere customers. Making full use of the Alumni Association platform helps to extend the influences of EDRI.” During the forum, Mr. Zhao and other alumni had cordial conversations, discussing cooperation plans.
